Leeds prospect Sam Chambers makes first senior loan to Northampton Town | OneFootball

Leeds United academy midfielder Sam Chambers has joined League Two Northampton Town on a season-long loan on deadline day, his first senior loan.

The club said in a statement that the 19-year-old heads to Sixfields for regular game time to gain senior experience, and that his progress will be closely monitored.

Chambers has made two first-team appearances for Leeds, debuting off the bench in the 2024 Championship win over Plymouth Argyle before a first senior start against Millwall in the FA Cup in February 2025. He is a Scotland Under-19 international.

After injury problems last season and no involvement with the senior pre-season squad this summer, he has begun strongly for Scott Gardner’s Under-21s, scoring against Boreham Wood and supplying two assists in the Premier League 2 win over West Bromwich Albion Under-21s.

He is a versatile option across midfield and attacking roles. His move follows fellow academy talent Harry Gray’s season-long switch to Sheffield Wednesday.
