Leeds’s Moot Hall Arms has been named the UK’s noisiest pub after fans hit 134.1 dB during England’s World Cup match against Mexico. The roar came when Jude Bellingham scored his second at the Azteca Stadium last week, a level comparable to a jet taking off.
According to yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk, the venue is competing in Stonegate Group and Heineken’s Roar of the Nation challenge, which logs crowd noise at pubs across the country during the Three Lions’ campaign in North America and encourages supporters to make themselves heard.
The leaderboard has The Minories in London prominent, peaking at 133.9 dB for Marcus Rashford’s goal against Croatia. Leeds reappears at 131.6 dB during the Croatia match.
Further entries show The Minories clearing 132 dB during matches with DR Congo and Panama, including goals for Harry Kane and Jude Bellingham, plus the final whistle against Panama.
England face Norway in the quarter-finals on Saturday at 10pm BST, with a semi-final place against either Argentina or Switzerland at stake.
