Leeds set final Shea Charles offer as Southampton hold out | OneFootball

Leeds United have drawn a line under their pursuit of Shea Charles, with their latest proposal to Southampton set as a best and final bid, yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk understands.

The Whites made two earlier offers for the Northern Ireland international after identifying him as a player who could bolster Daniel Farke's midfield in the Premier League. Southampton rejected both.

Crystal Palace and Fulham have been linked with interest, while Saints are thought to be seeking as much as £30m. Charles started 21 Championship games last season and has more than 100 second-tier appearances.

Leeds are prepared to hold firm on their most recent offer. They remain open to revisiting the situation if Southampton's position changes.

Charles has 35 caps and scored against Arsenal and Liverpool in cup competitions last season. He also netted in the play-off semi-final win over Middlesbrough, before Spygate denied Saints a Wembley final place.
