Leeds ‘to resume talks’ for £62m Mykhaylo Mudryk as Elland Road move preferred | OneFootball

Leeds United are prepared to open talks for Mykhaylo Mudryk, with Daniel Farke intent on adding to his forward line.

According to The Athletic, Leeds remain hopeful of persuading Chelsea into a deal, and Mudryk prefers Elland Road ahead of Coventry City and Strasbourg. The club are ready to resume discussions with Chelsea and hope a third attempt would be successful.

The Ukraine international is eager to revive his career after serving a suspension for alleged doping offences from December 2024.

Mudryk has been omitted from Chelsea’s opening three competitive squads this season, including Thursday’s Carabao Cup win over Luton, with Morgan Rogers and Jamie Gittens preferred on the left.

Leeds have already signed James Trafford, Michael Zetterer, Tarik Muharemovic, Nico Elvedi and Harry Wilson this summer, but still want at least one attacking arrival before Tuesday’s 11pm deadline.

If Leeds land Mudryk, Wilfried Gnonto could be allowed to leave, with Fiorentina keen before the window shuts. Mudryk could also give Farke a selection headache, with Harry Wilson dropping out of the XI for the visit of Brentford.

Chelsea bought Mudryk for £62m plus add-ons in January 2023 after beating Arsenal to his signature. He has shown flashes, but has yet to fully meet expectations.
