Leeds United came close to landing Jonathan Rowe in summer 2024, a move that would look shrewd given his rapid rise since.

Leeds had tracked the winger while at Norwich, with a £7m offer being prepared. GiveMeSport reports they could have signed him for between £10m and £15m that summer.

The deal slipped away when Marseille moved first and secured his signature, forcing Leeds to look elsewhere. They instead brought in Largie Ramazani and Manor Solomon.

L’Equipe reports that Rowe struggled for consistent minutes in France and was not a regular starter at Marseille. That lack of rhythm checked his early momentum.

His move to Bologna has provided the right platform and his performances have lifted his profile. L’Equipe now reports Bologna value him at €50m, with Premier League clubs showing interest.

For Leeds, the arithmetic is stark, a once modest fee is now dwarfed by his current valuation.
