Brenden Aaronson says the best part of living in Leeds is the people, praising the city’s fans and banter. According to yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk, the Leeds United and USA midfielder offered his verdict as he prepares for the World Cup.
The 25-year-old joined from Red Bull Salzburg in May 2022. After United’s relegation in May 2023 he spent the following season on loan at Union Berlin.
Reintegrated for 2024-25 after the play-off final defeat, he helped Leeds win promotion as Championship champions. On the club’s Premier League return in 2025-26 he recorded four goals and five assists, then was named in the USA squad for this summer’s World Cup.
Aaronson said: “The people are great. The banter is great. I'd also say the football world in general. It's a special place to be when it comes to playing soccer.”
He featured in Saturday’s final pre-World Cup friendly against Germany and now has 58 caps for his country. It has been a busy summer off the pitch too, with the Leeds man getting married before linking up with the national team ahead of Saturday’s opener.
Playing alongside his younger brother, Paxten, is among his standout moments. “It was definitely one of the most memorable moments ever,” he said. “Being able to share the field with him, walk out with him and stand together during the national anthem is something I'll never forget.”
