Leeds United and West Ham United are vying to sign FC Utrecht left-back Souffian El Karouani, Africa Foot reports.

The Morocco international has been a standout in the Eredivisie and is out of contract this summer, making a free transfer possible.

He has made 38 appearances in all competitions, supplying 16 assists and scoring three goals. That output from left-back underlines his attacking threat, attractive to a side seeking extra creativity.

There is yet to be a concrete offer from either club, but the race is intensifying. West Ham are considered serious contenders, while Leeds see an opportunity to persuade him.

He is understood to be in no rush and intends to wait for the summer window to assess proposals and choose the project that best suits the next stage of his career.
