Leeds United have missed out on landing one of their key targets as he was unwilling to play his football in the Championship, according to the Daily Mirror.

The Whites, who failed to get over the line on the final day of the Championship playoffs, are working on multiple options simultaneously to strengthen their squad for the challenge that lies ahead.

Bournemouth’s Philip Billing is another player that Leeds wanted and they were keen to bring him to Elland Road.

The midfielder could leave Dean Court before Friday’s deadline and the Whites went in for him.

However, Billing told the Yorkshire giants that he was unwilling to move down to the Championship.

Unable to address Billing’s concerns, Leeds will not be signing the midfielder this summer.

Leeds have lost players to the Premier League this summer, with Archie Gray, Crysencio Summerville and Georginio Rutter all not able to resist the top flight lure.
