Leeds United are exploring Marseille midfielder Bilal Nadir, reinforcing a pivot towards free-agent value after suggestions of an agreement in principle for Sporting Lisbon’s Hidemasa Morita, the 40-time Japan international.

Africa Foot reports Leeds are among three clubs chasing Nadir as contract timing opens up a free move this summer. Villarreal and Strasbourg are also in the frame.

Nadir came through Nice’s academy, then stepped up at Marseille. This season he has 26 appearances across competitions, with one goal and five assists. In Ligue 1 he has featured in 19 matches for 557 minutes and gained European experience.

His progress was interrupted by a knee injury that sidelined him for 248 days and 31 matches. He has since described a difficult spell, staying focused and rebuilding fitness step by step with the reserves before returning to the first team.

His deal runs to June 2026 and, with no extension in place, he is available on a free transfer. His terms are said to include a €2.5m signing bonus and €1.2m salary, around £20,000 a week and more than £2m up front. Marseille value him but do not view him as central, and Leeds’ interest aligns with a strategy targeting availability and upside over big fees.
