Leeds United handed Premier League lift and place rise as rivals slip

Leeds United moved back up to 14th in the Premier League without kicking a ball, after Bournemouth beat Crystal Palace 3-0 at the Vitality Stadium on Sunday.

According to yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk, Leeds benefited as rivals faltered over the weekend.

On Friday night, the Whites beat already relegated Burnley 3-1, going nine points clear of third-bottom Tottenham Hotspur and above Newcastle.

Newcastle then defeated Palace 3-1 at home on Saturday, moving back above Leeds. That left Leeds 15th, level on points with Palace, who dropped below the Magpies into 14th.

Palace began Sunday only two goals better off than Leeds on goal difference. Bournemouth’s victory overturned that margin, nudging Leeds ahead of Palace.
