Jeunes Footeux reports that Leeds United offered £17m to Rennes for Arnaud Kalimuendo last summer, before the striker instead joined Nottingham Forest for £25m.

Leeds eventually ended their striker search by signing Dominic Calvert-Lewin on a free, a move that followed weeks of uncertainty. His early run of goals has pleased supporters.

Leeds had looked at options in the Premier League and abroad, and it was not the first time Kalimuendo had been on their radar. During the Jesse Marsch era, reports suggested offers were made but he stayed in France.

At Forest, Kalimuendo has struggled for minutes, restricted to eight league appearances and a total of 82 minutes. Competition from former Leeds forward Chris Wood, and Igor Jesus, has limited his involvement.

With January nearing, Kalimuendo could move again. On that basis, it would not surprise if Leeds reassessed him, given their long-standing interest.
