Karl Darlow has taken the Premier League’s April Save of the Month for a point-blank tip over from Ladislav Krejci’s six-yard header against Wolves, preserving Leeds United’s two-goal cushion. It underlined his influence in their survival push.

The 35-year-old began the season as number two and, for a second straight year, forced his way to first choice. Leeds Live reports it is the first time a United goalkeeper has won the award. He is out of contract this summer.

With safety close, several players attended the darts version of the Premier League at the First Direct Arena on Thursday. Darlow, Sean Longstaff, Sam Byram, Ethan Ampadu, Alex Cairns and Wilfried Gnonto were among those present. Luke Littler beat Leeds fan Luke Humphries 6-5 in the final.

On Friday, an allegation emerged that Southampton spied on a Middlesbrough training session before their Championship play-off semi-final. The EFL is investigating and has now charged Southampton with two breaches of its regulations. Leeds were fined £200,000 in 2019 after Marcelo Bielsa sent a staff member to watch Derby County train.

Leeds hero Pablo Hernandez became caretaker of CD Castellon in November after working with the B team, taking over as co-owner with the club winless in their first five and in the relegation zone. He has won 18 of 38 matches and Castellon are in the play-off places, two points inside the top six with four to play. A top-two finish remains mathematically possible, if not realistic, and the club have not been in La Liga since 1991.
