Daniel Farke claimed his second League Cup win as Leeds United boss with a 2-0 second round victory over Nottingham Forest, Dan James striking before a late own goal. It capped a double blow for the hosts after Saturday's 1-0 Premier League win for the visitors.

According to Leeds Live, James was outstanding with a 9, and Nico Elvedi also earned 9 on his English debut. Joe Rodon and James Trafford scored 8, the keeper denying Nicolas Dominguez inside the box, while Farke was marked 9.

Leeds fashioned the clearer first-half openings, Lukas Nmecha slicing a James cut-back and Sean Longstaff seeing a close-range effort saved by Matz Sels. Rodon produced a goal-saving tackle to thwart Chris Wood when through on Trafford.

After the break, James broke the deadlock, finishing coolly one-on-one from Longstaff's threaded pass, the midfielder having struggled earlier. Okafor then flashed wide and substitute Anton Stach did likewise.

The second arrived amid chaos. Ethan Ampadu's looped throw was not cleared, Tarik Muharemovic's header on caused problems, and after Lukas Nmecha's involvement James Justin scooped in, but it was recorded as a Neco Williams own goal.

Justin was given 7, having earlier headed off the line. Ampadu received 6, Ao Tanaka 7, Noah Okafor 7 and Nmecha 5. From the bench, Jayden Bogle, Brenden Aaronson and Harry Wilson each took 6, Stach 7, while Dominic Calvert-Lewin was not rated.
