Leeds United face Wrexham in their first pre-season match of the summer in the United States early on Sunday, and this is our projected XI for the 12.30am UK kick-off.
The squad flew out on Tuesday for a tour that also includes Liverpool and Sunderland. According to yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk, 30 players travelled, with some to join later after the 2026 World Cup.
Noah Okafor has an extended break after reaching the quarter-finals with Switzerland, so he is not in the group. Brenden Aaronson, Gabi Gudmundsson, Ao Tanaka, Harry Wilson and Tarik Muharemovic are included, with Anton Stach and Ilia Gruev back from injury.
Okafor will not feature, and Aaronson, Gudmundsson and Tanaka seem likelier options later in the tour, a note that could also apply to Muharemovic. Starting numerous youngsters would be a bold call.
In goal, exits for Karl Darlow and Illan Meslier left Lucas Perri as first choice while Leeds pursue James Trafford. With Friday talk of Torino closing on Perri, Alex Cairns is the call unless Daniel Farke turns to Darryl Ombang or Rory Mahady.
At right-back, Jayden Bogle looks the pick. Jaka Bijol and Joe Rodon appeal at centre-back, with Muharemovic possibly later. On the left, Jayden Lienou could start, with Gudmundsson expected later in the tour.
If it is a back four, three in midfield follows, and captain Ethan Ampadu is a strong candidate to start.
