Leeds United will start the 2026/27 season at Nottingham Forest to extend the window for Elland Road’s West Stand rebuild.

According to yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk, the Premier League granted the request, giving an extra week before Brentford on August 29, and the West Stand will not open to supporters for any pre-season friendlies.

Planning permission for phase one of a two-stand project was approved earlier this year, with capacity ultimately set to reach around 53,000. The West Stand is the first section to be redeveloped.

Builders moved in as soon as the 2025/26 home programme ended. Since the Brighton game, the old ticket office and LUTV studio have been demolished, floodlights removed and banqueting suites knocked down.

Leeds will also finish the campaign away, visiting Crystal Palace on the final day.

Pre-season is being arranged, with a long-planned Elland Road friendly against Bundesliga side RB Leipzig close to being finalised and announced. Red Bull is a boardroom partner of 49ers Enterprises and a club sponsor, with its logo on the front of Leeds’ kits.
