Leeds United have opened their January business by taking Brighton and Hove Albion’s Argentina international Facundo Buonanotte on loan, and with eight days remaining, they have until 7pm next Monday to add again.
Fabrizio Romano claims Leeds lodged a bid for Como midfielder Martin Butarina last month that was rejected, while the Daily Mail reports an enquiry over Strasbourg left-back Ben Chilwell.
Butarina, signed by Como from Dinamo Zagreb in the summer, spoke on arrival about improving himself and winning games for an ambitious side. The 15-cap Croatia international has delivered, with four goals and four assists in 16 outings in all competitions as Como push for Europe in only their second season back in Serie A after promotion in May 2024.
Leeds also sanctioned a departure as Jack Harrison joined Fiorentina on loan, a move that could become permanent at the end of the season.
Gabriel Gudmundsson has impressed as Daniel Farke’s first-choice left-back, yet speculation persists over further cover on that flank. Chilwell joined the Ligue 1 club on a free transfer last summer and has made 18 appearances this season, but any deal appears unlikely with Gudmundsson established and the defender focusing on settling in France.
