Leeds United are considering a move for Newcastle’s Joe Willock, a switch that could reunite him with Sean Longstaff. iNews reports that the midfielder has made just two Premier League starts this season.

Willock featured alongside Longstaff 82 times for Newcastle. Leeds have already reunited former team-mates, with Lukas Nmecha and Sebastiaan Bornauw arriving in summer 2025 after 36 outings together at Wolfsburg.

Longstaff, now Leeds’s No 8, has been effusive about Willock’s impact. “I think when he’s fit, he’s so vital to us,” he said, speaking on The Rest Is Football in October 2024. He also called Willock the most underrated of Newcastle’s midfielders.

Craig Hope has suggested Newcastle would only sanction an exit for a viable, realistic fee, not a bargain sum, and that a move this month remains possible only with a proper offer.

The Daily Mail believes Leeds have £25m to spend this winter under PSR considerations, the amount Newcastle paid Arsenal for Willock in August 2021. With 18 months left on his deal, Newcastle would look to recoup as much of that fee as possible, which could complicate any Elland Road bid.
