Football Insider reports Leeds United are targeting Sunderland left-back Dennis Cirkin, who is out of contract this summer.
Leeds are expected to bolster at left-back, with Daniel Farke aiming to add depth and competition. Current options will be reviewed, and the club are exploring cost-effective signings as part of their planning.
Cirkin, 24, has been an important figure on Wearside and is a double promotion winner during Sunderland’s climb back to the Premier League. His forward intent and ball-carrying from deep have provided a regular outlet on the left.
Leeds have also been linked with Matt Targett, who is expected to be a free agent this summer. Even so, Cirkin’s expiring deal and Championship experience could keep him high on their list.
Head coach Régis Le Bris said he does not yet know what will happen, noting strong competition at full-back and that alignment would be needed for a new agreement. He accepted it might be the end of the story.
Cirkin has made nine appearances this season, with only one brief outing from the bench since the FA Cup win at Oxford in February. Interest is likely to grow as the window approaches.
Le Bris added that no final decision has been made on Bertrand Traoré, who is targeting a partial return to training next week after a knee injury. Sunderland visit Wolves on Saturday after defeats to Aston Villa and Nottingham Forest.
