Sunderland’s squad market value has risen sharply during their first season back in the Premier League, reflecting renewed momentum on and off the pitch.
According to Sunderland Echo, the Black Cats are valued at €381.95m, ranking 16th in the top flight, above Leeds United on €346.03m and behind Everton on €450.45m. Manchester City lead at €1.31bn, with Arsenal at €1.23bn.
Earlier this week the club announced a multi-million pound programme for the Stadium of Light and Academy of Light, including a new LED perimeter advertising system and expanded corporate hospitality. Works will also cover Academy pitches, youth performance technology, a refurbishment of Black Cats House offices, and more safe-standing at the stadium.
Those off-field moves follow promotion secured in last season’s Championship play-off final win over Sheffield United, then an ambitious summer window that underpinned an eye-catching return to the Premier League.
As Regis Le Bris and his squad enter the final fortnight, European football remains a long shot, yet the campaign has already provided memories to savour on Wearside.
