Leeds United transfer ‘saved’ sporting director’s job after £43m meeting | OneFootball

Leeds United’s deadline-day move for Jean-Matteo Bahoya has reportedly helped keep Eintracht Frankfurt sporting director Markus Krosche in his post.

Bild claims Krosche met Frankfurt’s supervisory board after the window and that sanctioning Bahoya’s switch to Leeds, plus Hugo Larsson’s move to Fulham, contributed to the decision to retain him. Should both deals become permanent, Frankfurt would receive around £43m.

Leeds confirmed Bahoya’s arrival for their second season back in the Premier League. The 21-year-old joined on a season-long loan from Frankfurt, with an option to buy next summer for £21.4m plus £4.3m in add-ons.

Bahoya could make his debut at Brighton this weekend at the Amex. Krosche’s contract runs until 2028, though the report suggests he is not expected to serve the full term.

Daniel Farke’s squad saw seven additions this summer with roughly £85m spent. James Trafford, Harry Wilson, Tarik Muharemovic, Nico Elvedi, Michael Zetterer, Melvin Bard and Bahoya arrived, with Bard and Bahoya on loan and Wilson on a free.

"Every player wants to play in the Premier League and this summer, the best project in the Premier League for me was Leeds," Bahoya said to LUTV.

"The project is top. I spoke with the coach, the coach has a top idea, he wants the [kind of] football like me and we speak the same language so it's the best spot for me."
