Paraag Marathe has underlined that Leeds United’s transfer process has stayed the same for three years, setting out who holds veto power on signings.

Daniel Farke had recently spoken of wanting the final say on sporting matters and suggested talks were needed about responsibilities. According to Leeds Live, his comments prompted clarity from the hierarchy.

After the season finale against West Ham United, Farke said he and Marathe had discussed plans once survival was secured. Marathe added that he hopes and expects Farke to remain for a while as he enters his final contract year, with both parties keen to continue and talks to come at the right time.

Marathe confirmed the manager can reject any target that does not suit him or his system. That means potential deals for Lucas Perri and Facundo Buonanotte would sit under Farke’s approval, as would calls viewed as successes with Anton Stach and Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

Others also have veto rights. They include Marathe, managing director Robbie Evans, sporting director Adam Underwood and head of recruitment Alex Davies.

Underwood is typically the first contact for prospective signings and oversees most of the process until the final stages.

Evans, Underwood and Davies completed their first summer in post last year and earned credit for the bulk of successful business. This summer will differ slightly, with spending squeezed by new Squad Cost Ratio rules and a focus on higher quality additions to push for starting places.

Marathe praised his team for ignoring the noise and getting on with the job. Any creases from last month now appear ironed out, with the structure clearly defined.
