Leeds United host Newcastle United at Elland Road on Monday looking to bounce back from their first defeat of the season, a 6-3 EFL Cup exit at Chelsea after leading by two goals.
Daniel Farke’s side remain unbeaten in the Premier League, however, and can equal a 21st-century club best by going four league games without defeat to start a campaign. Farke made widespread changes for the trip to Stamford Bridge and is expected to restore his first-choice XI for the visit of a Newcastle side unbeaten in six straight league meetings with Leeds.
Joe Rodon remains the only confirmed absentee, sidelined for eight to 10 weeks with a thigh injury, while Mateo Joseph is still working his way back from an ACL problem. Farke has hinted that Ilia Gruev could be available again after a knee issue, having missed the cup defeat in midweek. No new fitness concerns emerged from the Stamford Bridge trip.
With his strongest group available, Farke is expected to recall the majority of his regular starters, with Dominic Calvert-Lewin leading the line — the striker has scored seven Premier League goals against Newcastle, more than against any other opponent in the competition.
Leeds United possible starting XI (3-4-2-1): Trafford; Justin, Muharemovic, Elvedi; Bogle, Stach, Tanaka, Ampadu, Gudmundsson; Calvert-Lewin, Okafor
The Premier League match kicks off at 20:00 on Monday, 14 September 2026.
The match will be broadcast live on Sky Sports Main Event and Sky Sports Premier League in the UK.
