Leeds United came from behind to draw 1-1 at Brentford, a second successive fightback, with Dominic Calvert-Lewin cancelling Jordan Henderson after the break. Both goals arrived in a second half Leeds largely controlled.

As reported by yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk, the point opened a three-point cushion on West Ham United in 18th place.

Leeds survived their 45-60 weak spell from Liverpool, emerged sharper after the restart and created chances for Calvert-Lewin and Noah Okafor. Brentford then struck on 70 minutes, Rico Henry’s cross deflecting off Jaka Bijol into Henderson’s path.

The opener owed to subs Henry and Mikkel Damsgaard. Daniel Farke replied with Willy Gnonto and Brenden Aaronson, withdrawing Ao Tanaka and Bijol to tweak the shape. Gnonto then crossed for Calvert-Lewin’s header.

Rodon, Struijk and Bijol shackled Igor Thiago superbly, allowing no touches in the Leeds box and no shots.

Leeds have not won a Premier League game in London since the final day of 2021/22 at Brentford, and two earlier trips this season ended in defeat, but this rally avoided another grim return.

Calvert-Lewin now has five for the campaign, with only Hugo Ekitike among new arrivals on more. With Lukas Nmecha on four, Leeds look to have value at No 9, and the striker told Sky Sports he feels fitter than he has for a long time, which might matter if both stay available.
