Leeds United visit Nottingham Forest as the Premier League season begins. According to Leeds Live, a strongest squad has been mapped out if Nico Elvedi lands and two more arrivals, a striker and a central midfielder, follow.
Trafford has arrived from Manchester City for £40m, Struijk has moved to Brighton for £20m and Tarik Muharemovic has signed from Sassuolo for £34m. Elvedi is expected to join from Borussia Moenchengladbach for £8.2m, while Sebastiaan Bornauw is nearing Hamburg.
Leeds missed out on Shea Charles to Fulham despite bidding up to £23m plus add-ons. AC Milan’s Yunus Musah fits the brief, though suggestions of concrete interest are understood to be unfounded, and he is rumoured to be available at about £17m. His ball-carrying could complement Ethan Ampadu.
Up front, Feyenoord’s Ayase Ueda has been noted as a possibility, with funds helped by Joe Gelhardt’s £6.5m move to Hull City. The Dutch club’s £26m price could be a hurdle, yet he could partner or deputise for Dominic Calvert-Lewin as a penalty-box finisher.
On that basis, a back three could feature Elvedi right, Jaka Bijol central and Muharemovic left, with Jayden Bogle and James Justin at wing-back as Gabriel Gudmundsson recovers. With Lucas Perri close to an exit and Illan Meslier gone, Trafford is first choice and Alex Cairns deputy. Brenden Aaronson would operate as No. ten, with Harry Wilson supporting Calvert-Lewin if Noah Okafor is not yet fully fit, although Farke has preferred a back four in pre-season.
