Sunday’s El Clasico is going to be one of the most open matches in recent times, and while Real Madrid boast of a more complete squad and the home advantage, Barcelona have had their number in recent times.
Last season was not a memorable one for Los Blancos in terms of Clasicos, with Barcelona’s front line of Robert Lewandowski, Raphinha, and Lamine Yamal terrorising their defence every time they faced off.
The former duo will be unavailable for the game, but Yamal will start and star on the night, and he has seen a big part of the spotlight ahead of the game, especially after his comments on Real Madrid being favoured by the referees earlier this week.
Hours before El Clasico kicks off at the Santiago Bernabeu, the young Barcelona star has again taken to his social media to send out a message of confidence and motivation to his team and also one to discourage ¯the opponents – Real Madrid.
His Instagram story features a collage of clips of him from his boyhood days and also a still from his first goal at the Bernabeu last season, all accompanied by a voiceover that sends a powerful message to both camps.
“The player who leaves the neighborhood does not compete for fame, but competes for the future. Don’t play for the spotlight, play to never go back,” the voiceover begins.
“The real pressure is not in the stadium, it is in the eyes of those who never stopped believing.
“And when he scores, he doesn’t celebrate for himself, he celebrates because that goal can change for him, for his people and for his neighborhood,” it goes on to say.
At the end, the clip closes with a quote from Yamal in a recent interview where he spoke about the secret to his fearlessness.
“I left fear in the Mataro park a long time ago.”
Immediately after the above-mentioned video, the player put up a photo of him celebrating his goal at the Bernabeu last season, with the focus on the furious fans in the background, insulting him.
Needless to his, his message is one of supreme confidence and one that should rile up the Real Madrid dressing room.
