Leganés have explored bringing Dani Raba back and, while the move is currently unworkable, they are keeping the option alive should late-window shifts open the door, according to AS.

The 30-year-old is now at Valencia, having won promotion and fronted Leganés' return season.

Leganés sounded out a deal in mid December and received a firm no. Raba sees himself as a top-flight player and is intent on making his case at Valencia, despite lacking the continuity he enjoyed in the final two thirds of last season at Butarque.

His exit was cordial though not as smooth as he would have liked, with internal episodes leaving a bittersweet aftertaste. Late in the season the club offered an immediate renewal with release in the event of relegation, which he rejected as it could deter suitors, and relegation followed.

Raba is under contract until 2027 and Valencia would not oppose a loan, though it is not a priority. Second-tier clubs have called, including Sporting Gijón, coached by his former boss Borja Jiménez, a move the player is not considering.

In Valencia they do not rule out a late change of heart if he seeks stability, which could mean dropping to the second tier. That is the window Leganés are watching, although a return to Butarque does not currently look among his preferred options.

The departure of close friend Miguel de la Fuente and Leganés’ league position also work against the move, yet the club have not abandoned the idea.
