Leicester City have told staff the usual early December pay will not happen, with wages now due on 31 December after notice was given a day before payday.

According to LeicesterMercury.co.uk, an email sent on Thursday afternoon to full-time and part-time staff said payroll dates are being aligned across the King Power Group.

Staff had previously been told to expect payment on Friday, 19 December, but were informed on Thursday that would not happen.

Sources said the delay and the late notice had disrupted festive plans, with some relying on the pre-Christmas wages to buy presents and food.

One source described the mood among staff as foul and said some colleagues were in tears, calling the announcement one that had ruined Christmas.

In the email, Netthanomsak apologised for the late notice and for being unable to maintain what was described as a valued tradition.

The club have not explained why the change to align with the rest of the King Power Group is being made now, or why staff were told so late.
