Leicester City have told staff they will not receive their December salaries before Christmas, with payday moved to New Year’s Eve.
According to Telegraph, the club has aligned payroll dates across the King Power Group, ending the long-standing practice of paying early in December. Staff were informed only yesterday, around 24 hours before the expected pay date.
It is understood the delay is not linked to financial problems, and stems from an administrative change that would have required more notice.
In an email to staff, interim managing director Kamonthip Netthanomsak acknowledged the timing was not ideal, noted some had planned to meet commitments with an earlier payday, and said confidential support would be available where needed.
Leicester are owned by Thailand-based retail company King Power, a multi-billion-dollar entity.
Relegated from the Premier League last season, they sit eighth in the Championship and are awaiting a disciplinary commission verdict after a hearing last month into alleged financial rules breaches.
