Leicester City have been hit with a six-point point penalty after allegedly breaching the EFL's profit and sustainability rules.

The decision is based on a three-year period ending with the 2023/24 campaign and sees the Foxes drop from 17th in the table to 20th – level on points with 22nd-place West Bromwich Albion who are currently in the relegation zone.

The Foxes acknowledged the decision in a statement but will decide on future action: "We are now reviewing the decision in full and considering the options available to us. We remain committed to engaging constructively and ensuring that any action is fair, proportionate and determined through the appropriate processes."

Leicester are currently on a four-game winless streak in the Championship and will be looking to get some much-needed points back on the board this Saturday when they face play-off chasing Birmingham City.
