Leicester City have sacked Marti Cifuentes after just six months in charge, following a 2-1 home defeat to Oxford United on Saturday.
The Spaniard leaves the Foxes 14th in the Championship, six points adrift of the play-off places and nine clear of the relegation zone.
The 43-year-old took over in July with the task of returning Leicester to the Premier League after their second relegation in three years. However, his 29 league games in charge yielded just 10 wins, with Saturday’s loss marking his 11th defeat.
First-team coach Andy King has been named interim manager while the club searches for Cifuentes’ permanent successor.
The Spaniard had arrived from QPR on a three-year deal but struggled to turn Leicester’s fortunes, and the decision to part ways comes with the club in the bottom half of the Championship.
