Leicester City lost 2-1 to Burton Albion at the King Power Stadium after falling two behind inside the opening half-hour.

Matthew Dennis danced through to open the scoring, then Kgaogelo Chauke doubled the lead after Caleb Okoli failed to deal with a long ball, finishing from close range after Dennis was blocked. Oliver Skipp was sent off for a high tackle on Curtis Tilt, and Russell Martin introduced Hamza Choudhury for Liam Cullen. LeicesterMercury.co.uk’s player ratings assessed a number of under-par displays.

Just before half-time, Wes Burns halved the deficit. He started the move by switching play to Will Alves, then arrived at the back post to convert.

City pushed after the break, with Harry Souttar used as a makeshift striker late on. Harry Howell and Tommy Watson had the best sights of goal but clear chances were scarce.

Skipp was rated 2/10. Alex McCarthy, Okoli and Souttar received 4/10. Burns and Howell were the highest at 7/10. Luke Thomas, Sammy Braybrooke, Cullen, Alves and Admir Bristric were given 6/10, as was Choudhury. Bade Aluko, Bobby De Cordova-Reid, Watson and Louis Page were marked 5/10.
