Leicester City are set to receive between £10 million and £15 million from Jeremy Monga's move to Arsenal

Leicester City's third relegation in four years means the King Power Stadium will be the host of League One football for just the second time in its history and the first time since 2009, as the Foxes prepare for their immediate escape route back to the Championship.

It's been a difficult few years for Leicester after an incredible decade.

The Foxes lifted the Premier League trophy a decade ago, subsequently reached the quarter-final of the UEFA Champions League, lifted the FA Cup, and played in all three major UEFA competitions, but now, they find themselves in the third tier of English football.

Former Southampton and Rangers boss Russell Martin has recently taken the reins of the club, with Leicester pinpointing the former defender as the person to secure an immediate return to the second tier.

Martin has a big summer transfer window cut out for him, and with numerous outgoings expected, the Foxes are set to receive a large windfall for one of their star assets after a deal with a Premier League team has been reached.

Leicester are set to see numerous star players leave the club this summer, with the Foxes having already announced the departures of the likes of Ricardo Pereira, Jordan Ayew, Patson Daka, and Jamaal Lascelles, whilst the likes of Jordan James, Divine Mukasa, and Aaron Ramsey depart after their loans.

Ghanaian winger Abdul Fatawu is expected to be on his way out the door for a sizeable fee, but Leicester are now expected to receive a not insignificant sum for the services of 16-year-old winger Jeremy Monga, after agreeing a deal with Arsenal.

Monga made his professional debut for Leicester aged just 15 years and 271 days, and in doing so, became the second-youngest player to ever play in the Premier League behind Arsenal's Ethan Nwaneri, who, according to TEAMtalk, he is set to become teammates with in North London.

Arsenal have agreed a deal for Monga ahead of numerous other English and European giants, including Chelsea, and are set to pay the Foxes between £10 million and £15 million for his services.

Following Leicester's relegation to the Championship last year, it was expected that Monga would receive some valuable minutes in the second tier, and when he netted in just the second game of the campaign, a 2-1 defeat away to Preston North End, becoming the youngest player to ever score in the Championship, it was expected he would continue on that trajectory.

However, the teenager would appear sporadically instead, making just eight league starts all campaign and 30 appearances in total across all competitions, with his strike at Preston being his only goal for the club.

Now, it looks as though Monga will go and continue his development with the Gunners, following in the footsteps of the likes of Nwaneri, Bukayo Saka, Myles Lewis-Skelly, Emile Smith-Rowe, and Max Dowman who have come through the club's youth system in recent years.

Martin will be hoping to reinvest as much of that fee into the squad ahead of the next campaign as possible, with the former Southampton boss tasked with securing an immediate return to the Championship.

Martin, like Leicester, has had a difficult couple of years.

The Englishman, since earning promotion to the Premier League with Southampton in 2024, was dismissed shortly after by the Saints after struggling in the top-flight, and his subsequent spell in Scotland with Rangers would last just a matter of months.

Now, both manager and club are looking for their own revivals, and will be hoping to do it together.

Martin will want to reinvest as much of the Monga fee into the squad as possible to give them the best platform possible to secure an immediate return to the second tier.
