Former Ipswich Town attacker Conor Chaplin is set to join Leicester City on a free transfer this summer
Leicester City, following relegation to League One for just the second time in their history, have a huge summer window ahead of them, and look set to finally make their first addition under new head coach Russell Martin.
Back-to-back relegations mean Leicester will be playing third-tier football next season, but the Foxes will have no intention of sticking around there for long.
With Gary Rowett having left the club, former Southampton and Rangers boss Russel Martin has taken the reins at the King Power Stadium, and with plenty of outgoings expected, the former defender is looking to stamp his authority on the squad with a few incomings.
The likes of Ricardo Pereira and Patson Daka have left the club on free transfers, Jeremy Monga has joined Manchester City for a potential £12.5 million, and Harry Winks edges closer to a permanent return to Italy.
Now, with Danny Ings set to make the step down to League One, a familiar face to those of the second and third tier now looks set to join them.

As exclusively revealed back in June by Football League World, Leicester were plotting a move for former Ipswich attacker Conor Chaplin this summer following his release from the Tractor Boys.
Chaplin, 29, has a wealth of experience playing in each of League Two, League One, and the Championship for the likes of Coventry City, Barnsley, Portsmouth and Ipswich.
He would spend last season on loan with Pompey in the second tier from Ipswich after falling out of favour under Kieran McKenna at Portman Road, but could only manage two goals and three assists in 36 league games back at Fratton Park.
Chaplin played a crucial role in Ipswich’s initial rise from League One to the Premier League, scoring 39 and assisting 14 across 89 league appearances in two years for the club, and now, according to John Percy via X, is set for a medical with the Foxes today ahead of a free transfer.
The Englishman looks set to follow Ings through the doors at the King Power Stadium to add some much-needed quality and experience to Leicester’s ranks ahead of a hugely important year for the club, where promotion will be the primary target.
With the news of Leicester’s initial interest having been broken by FLW back in June, the 29-year-old is now on his way to the Foxes for a medical, where those at the club, including Martin, will be hoping for a similar impact in the third tier as he did with Ipswich just a few years ago.

Although Chaplin didn’t have his best year last time around with Portsmouth, only a fool would deny his quality, especially at League One level, and his addition should be viewed as a real coup for the Foxes by all accounts, with no transfer fee involved.
To sign a 29-year-old with over 300 games combined in the Championship and League One on a free transfer is not usually possible, but the Foxes made their initial interest clear previously, and now look set to finally confirm his addition.
Martin will be well aware his main objective is to ensure Leicester’s time in League One is as short-lived as possible, and the addition of Chaplin will only help his ambitions.
Chaplin has the potential to spearhead Leicester back to the Championship next year, and, pending a medical, looks set to join the veteran Ings in Leicestershire this summer.
