Leicester City have signed Emil Riis from Bristol City for an undisclosed fee on deadline day, the 28-year-old agreeing a four-year deal at the King Power Stadium.

"Different teams require different things and different levels require different things," said Russell Martin. "Ideally, we'd have two or three strikers that offer different things. We don't just want one of the same." He told BBC Radio Leicester.

In August Martin indicated City were not actively seeking another striker, prioritising other areas, and highlighted Liam Cullen’s flexibility along with Bobby De Cordova-Reid’s ability to lead the line.

After Saturday’s goalless draw at MK Dons, when City registered 24 shots without finding a winner, he suggested there could be movement if the right person emerged and that they would wait and see.

Riis joins Admir Bristric and De Cordova-Reid in offering varied attacking options, with Cullen also capable of playing centrally. Bristric is mobile and can drop in, Riis profiles as a more traditional goalscorer, while De Cordova-Reid provides flexibility and link-up play.

The move adds depth and variety up front in line with Martin’s stated approach.
