Leicester City open their League One season at Notts County, kick-off 12.30pm at Meadow Lane, as Russell Martin’s new era begins.
They are among the promotion favourites after significant recruitment. Nine players have arrived, with Admir Bristric, Harry Howell and Franco Ravizzoli added this week. Goalkeeper Alex McCarthy is available after missing last week’s Carabao Cup win over Northampton, but Conor Chaplin is out.
Bristric has trained with his new team-mates following his move from NK Olimpija Ljubljana on Tuesday and offers a different option up front, but he is not expected to start immediately. Based on the Northampton tie, City’s XI could feature two changes, possibly three.
Martin said staff at Leicester have not been told the club is for sale and that the subject has not crossed his path. He remains calm and focused on preparing the team.
The owners, King Power, are reportedly seeking more than £222million. Citigroup has drafted a brochure outlining a sale of the club and its assets, including the women’s team, academy, King Power Stadium and the Seagrave training base.
This is the first of four matches this month. Last week’s cup win set up a second-round tie with Ipswich Town. With three weeks of the window remaining, the squad could still change, though Martin is content with his options for now.
