According to The Sun, Leicester City want to hold talks with Dutch manager Dick Schreuder as they search for a League One head coach, and admire his track record.
Schreuder is currently leading NEC Nijmegen, who have excelled in the Eredivisie this season.
Nijmegen are third with three games left, three points behind Feyenoord and one ahead of Ajax and AZ Alkmaar.
They reached the Dutch Cup final but lost 5-1 to AZ.
Schreuder, 54, is noted for attacking football and prolific teams. He won promotion with PEC Zwolle in 22-23, scoring 99 goals in 38 matches.
He then moved to Castellon in Spain’s third tier, earned promotion and finished as top scorers, before being sacked midway through the next La Liga 2 season after four straight defeats. The team were 15th at his exit and ended 17th.
He joined Nijmegen last summer. They finished eighth last term, and this season have broken into the leading pack. If they end at least fourth, it will be the club’s best-ever campaign.
Goals have flowed, 73 in 31 league matches, with only leaders PSV scoring more.
Schreuder has worked in England before as part of Edgar Davids’ staff at Barnet in 2014.
At Leicester, Gary Rowett’s deal expires after this weekend’s game against Blackburn. While he has expressed interest in the job, the club are thought to be looking elsewhere, with new sporting director James McCarron involved in the appointment.
