Leicester City’s managerial search has taken another twist, with Rene Hake now under consideration. According to AD.NL, City are seriously considering the former Manchester United assistant after holding talks.
The Telegraph reported on Saturday that Russell Martin was in advanced talks with Leicester and remains their primary target.
Martin had been on the club’s radar before Marti Cifuentes was appointed last July, then he took charge at Rangers and lasted just 17 games.
Hake has worked as an assistant at Manchester United, Zwolle and FC Twente, and as head coach of FC Emmen, Twente, Cambuur, FC Utrecht and Go Ahead Eagles.
In 2024 he joined Erik ten Hag’s backroom team at Old Trafford alongside Ruud van Nistelrooy, leaving when Ten Hag was sacked. Van Nistelrooy went on to manage Leicester for the remainder of that season.
Feyenoord have dismissed Robin van Persie after a second-place finish and Champions League qualification in his only full season in charge. The arrivals of Devy Rigaux as technical director and Robert Eenhoorn as general manager two weeks ago have ended van Persie’s 16-month tenure, and Hake is understood to be leaving as well.
