  • Leicester City, currently leading the Championship table, are interested in signing Inter Milan midfielder Stefano Sensi, but financial issues may hinder the deal.
  • Pundit Carlton Palmer believes it wouldn't make sense for Sunderland winger Jack Clarke to join Leicester City or any other Championship side this month, as Premier League clubs are interested in him for the summer.
  • Sunderland is looking to strengthen their defense by targeting Leicester City's left-back Luke Thomas on loan for the remainder of the season.

Leicester City look on course to return to the Premier League at the first time of asking.

The Foxes have taken to life in the second tier very well, and despite having a new manager on board who has little managerial experience and no experience of the Championship, Enzo Maresca has got his side playing some outstanding football.

It was clear very early on in the season that Leicester are very good at this level and have been the runaway leaders, despite the presence of teams like Ipswich Town, Southampton, and Leeds United.

The Foxes suffered a surprise 3-1 defeat last time out to Coventry City, and while that will have been disappointing, the Foxes will hope it’s a bump in the road as they look to continue with their seven-point lead at the top of the table.

Given their situation, Leicester may not be as busy in this transfer window as other sides, but they may still be looking to do some business here and there.

So, with that said, here we have looked at the latest transfer news coming out of Leicester City…

Fabrizio Romano provides a transfer update on Stefano Sensi

It has been reported by Gianluca Di Marzio, that Leicester are interested in signing Inter Milan midfielder Stefano Sensi this month.

However, financial issues at the club could put any deal in jeopardy and now Fabrizio Romano has provided an update on the situation.

Romano revealed on X, stating that the Foxes remain interested in a deal for Sensi, but outgoings are still needed at the King Power Stadium for the deal to advance.

He added that Maresca is keen to add the player to his squad, while Sensi is also keen on joining the Foxes, and Inter Milan are open to selling the player in this transfer window.

Carlton Palmer reacts to Leicester City’s interest in Jack Clarke

Pundit Carlton Palmer was asked by FLW for his thoughts on Leicester City’s interest in Sunderland winger Jack Clarke.

The former Sheffield Wednesday midfielder believes it wouldn’t make sense for the player to join another Championship side this month, and it is inevitable he will join a Premier League side in the summer.

Palmer told FLW: “Southampton and Leicester have joined the race to sign Sunderland's Jack Clarke.

"The 23-year-old had a fantastic 22/23 season, and he's playing even better in this current campaign. The talented winger has scored 12 goals so far, Sunderland's leading goalscorer.

"If Sunderland were to sell in January it would take a bid in excess of £20million, which Southampton and Leicester would be capable of paying. But it just would not make sense for Jack to move to another Championship club in January, when the likes of West Ham, Burnley, Crystal Palace, Wolves, Everton and Bournemouth are all keen to acquire his services.

"I think it's inevitable that Jack will move on from Sunderland to a Premier League club, but I think this is more than likely to happen in the summer.

"Jack has two and a half years left on his contract, Sunderland are in the driving seat and Jack is happy and playing well. So the only thing that changes is a huge offer received by Sunderland."

Sunderland eyeing Luke Thomas

Sunderland have identified Leicester City’s left-back Luke Thomas as a player to strengthen their defence, as reported by Sunderland Nation.

The Black Cats have suffered several injuries in the left-back area of the team, and that means they are looking at options to strengthen that department.

Thomas spent the first half of this campaign on loan at Premier League side Sheffield United; it was a spell that saw him make 11 starts. However, the loan was cut short at the end of this month, and now Sunderland are looking to take the 22-year-old on loan for the remainder of the season.

The spell at Bramall Lane was the first loan spell Thomas has had away from the King Power Stadium, as he’s played 85 times for the club since breaking into the first team in 2020.
