Leicester City’s Spain tour: win over Cadiz, pitch worry and fan moment | OneFootball

Leicester City’s pre-season base in southern Spain offered behind-the-scenes access and a show of togetherness in the win over Cadiz.

The correspondent arrived in Jerez de la Frontera on Wednesday after flying into Seville in the afternoon amid reports that King Power were open to selling the club. Leicester City have not commented.

A two-hour trip to Estadio Nuevo Mirador preceded arrival around three hours before kick-off. When the coach pulled in, Conor Chaplin and Harry Souttar were first off and posed for photos with a handful of supporters. Will Alves and Bade Aluko also signed a blank canvas for a local fan.

The 1-0 victory was tempered by a difficult surface, with obvious bobbles and bare patches that concerned the Cadiz camp. Leicester are due back at the same ground on Saturday to face Malaga.

In the first half, Jake Evans’ late challenge drew an angry reaction and a push from a Cadiz player. Hamza Choudhury, Chaplin and Souttar quickly stepped in to back the teenager, something Russell Martin enjoyed seeing.

At full-time Martin led the first-half XI to the small travelling contingent, took a supporter’s phone and posed before an England flag reading 'For a Lifetime', 'Leicester City', 'Not Just the Good Times' and 'Boothy'.

Thursday was lighter at the training base ahead of the final session before Saturday. Interviews with Martin, Jayden Joseph and Luke Thomas will be published next week, with a longer sit-down planned with Martin and further conversations with Conor Chaplin and Alex McCarthy about their moves to Leicester.
