Wout Faes (27) has been a regular at AS Monaco since making the move to the Principality club at the start of January.
The Belgium international has joined Les Monégasques on a loan deal that includes a buy option. He has so far played five games in Ligue 1 and started both UEFA Champions League games against Paris Saint-Germain.
Speaking in a press conference attended by Get French Football News, Faes announced a desire to extend his stay at the Principality club. “Of course [I want to stay]! The chance to come here was very welcome. Playing again, being reliable. I like it,” began the Leicester City loanee.
He added, “I like the league. If I can stay, that would be great. Monaco are a big team and staying is clearly what I want. I am starting [games] and having an impact. It is important that I’m enjoying myself.”
Belgium manager Rudi Garcia was seen at Monaco’s match against PSG recently, and Faes is targeting a return to the national team. “I am playing at a great club in a great league. I think I am in the picture again. We will see what choice he makes. I know that they’re following me.”
