Leicester are expected to resist January interest in Abdul Fatawu, with Bournemouth targeting the winger as they seek cover for Antoine Semenyo’s potential move to Manchester City, according to LeicesterMercury.co.uk.
Premier League attention is not new. Everton showed interest in the summer and Sunderland saw a reported £28m offer rejected.
Fatawu has started every game this season, scoring four and supplying 11 assists. He has also proved his fitness after an ACL tear 14 months ago.
Manager Marti Cifuentes said the club have a plan, views Fatawu as important and, as far as he is aware, nothing has changed from the summer stance. He stopped short of declaring the player not for sale this month.
Performances have dipped at times and some supporters have been frustrated, yet his output has remained steady. His longest spell without a goal or assist is only four matches.
The 21-year-old joined on loan two-and-a-half years ago before making the move from Sporting Lisbon permanent in a £14m deal 18 months ago.
