Leicester City face a potential injury blow after Jordan James was forced off playing for Wales against Bosnia and Herzegovina in a crucial World Cup qualifier.

According to LeicesterMercury.co.uk, the City midfielder, on loan from Rennes, went off before the hour, shortly after Dan James had put Wales ahead, and appeared to be in pain as Liam Cullen came on.

The 21-year-old seemed to suffer the problem following a tackle on Amar Mecic, which was not clearly shown on television replays. It came after Harry Wilson slalomed past three Bosnia defenders before being brought down, with referee Istvan Kovac continuing a lenient approach.

While Cullen’s introduction looked planned, early signs around James’ withdrawal were worrying. Any absence would be a major setback for Gary Rowett’s side, who sit 22nd in the Championship and are in a relegation fight.

James has 10 goals and four assists in the league this season and has been central to City’s attack. He missed six games with a hamstring issue and only recently returned.

Rowett previously worked with James at Birmingham City before the midfielder’s move to France in 2024.
