The King Power club rests at the top of their own little mini-league at the bottom of the Premier League. With Premier League survival the goal for this season, the board sanctioned plenty of transfers to support Steve Cooper and have built a broadly strong first-team squad with some depth. With only two wins to his name, the Welshman has not been unsuccessful but certainly has not excelled.
Nevertheless, should Leicester be looking to kickstart a renewal, to improve both defensively - our main weakness - and in terms of creativity, a change in the coaching team will be required. I have not seen anything from Cooper which suggests he could get the best of all our players, although the head coach has improved individual players, and nor have I seen a particularly impressive style of play.
That is where the latest rumours running amock come into the foreground. It has been speculated for some time that Cooper could be replaced should results not improve, and the manager was given the easy run of games to put into practice his principles and style. With only two wins, that can hardly be seen as a great set of results. Therefore, we could see the Foxes take a gamble.
There are a few options currently available in the management market, as well as those who are offering themselves out to other clubs: Jose Mourinho, Erik Ten Hag, Graham Potter, David Moyes, and the latest link Ruud Van Nistelrooy. Any switch ought to be before the winter transfer window.
Nistelrooy is an exciting option for Leicester City. A former legendary striker, played under the guidance of Alex Ferguson, coached the impeccable and youth-focused PSV Eindhoven, and a massive name from which to build around. Regardless of whether the Dutchman is the best choice, there is a lot for the King Power side to work with.
