Leicester’s season has lurched towards another drop. As reported by L’Équipe, a second successive relegation to League One now appears to be looming.
The Foxes were beaten 0-1 at Portsmouth on Saturday afternoon, their 18th defeat in 43 Championship matches.
Relegated from the Premier League last year, Gary Rowett’s side had targeted an immediate return at the start of this campaign. Instead, the opposite has unfolded.
Once surprise champions of England in 2016, Leicester now sit 23rd, second bottom, on 41 points, with 11 wins and 14 draws.
The first team outside the drop, West Bromwich, are five points ahead with a game in hand. With three fixtures remaining, a West Bromwich victory against Preston would likely extinguish Leicester’s survival hopes and see them fall into the third tier.
