Leicester City will hold talks on Sunday about sacking Marti Cifuentes after a damaging run of results left the manager on the brink.

According to Telegraph, his future will be decided in a board meeting arranged by owner Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha.

Leicester were beaten at home by Oxford United on Saturday and have gone 23 league games without a clean sheet. Supporters chanted for him to go, and the result left them 17 points behind second-placed Middlesbrough.

Appointed in the summer after relegation, Cifuentes has worked under tight financial limits, with Leicester unable to pay transfer fees. They can only bring in loan signings this month as they seek to comply with profit and sustainability rules.

He has also dealt with a difficult dressing room, having frozen out former England international Harry Winks since the end of last year. Srivaddhanaprabha and director of football Jon Rudkin watched the defeat at the King Power Stadium.

After the match Cifuentes said the situation was unpleasant for him and accepted he must be accountable, adding that he and his staff are working relentlessly to improve results. He said the target is clear and his focus is on preparing the next game.
