Leila Pereira says Palmeiras will not sell their leading regulars in the next transfer window, prioritising a strong squad for the Brasileirão, Copa do Brasil and Conmebol Libertadores.
According to Globo.com, she told the outlet during an appearance on POD_i on Globo News that players who feature regularly would not be leaving, and that the club do not intend to entertain offers for core figures. Her stance mirrors Abel Ferreira's message after the win over Chapecoense, when he spoke of keeping the group intact and getting injured players back for the second half of the year.
Palmeiras have already signed centre-back Alexander Barboza for the second half of the year and are keen on bringing Danilo back. There are no talks with Botafogo yet, with the midfielder's future only set to be defined after the World Cup.
Even with that position, other departures remain possible for players outside the team's standouts. The club's budget projected raising almost R$ 400 million from player trading.
At the start of the year Palmeiras resisted sales, and the accounts show an accumulated deficit to April of R$ 35.9 million against a planned surplus of R$ 59.2 million. The priority for the remainder of the year is sporting performance over finance, with the board seeking income that does not weaken a side that ended the first half top of the league and into the round of 16 in the Copa do Brasil and Libertadores.
