Newcastle United have entered the race for Lille forward Matias Fernandez-Pardo, with L’Équipe reporting a €40 million offer as RB Leipzig face competition.

Leipzig were said over the weekend to have offered up to €33 million including bonuses. Sky Germany later reported Lille viewed that proposal as too low and that higher bids were already on the table.

Fernandez-Pardo is 21 and a Belgium international.

It remains to be seen whether the latest proposal convinces Lille to sell, and whether Leipzig choose to raise their offer to that level.

Sky Germany also indicated Leipzig will pull out if Lille’s valuation becomes excessive.
