Lennart Karl has suffered a torn muscle in training, and Sky Germany reports he will miss the 2026 World Cup.

The 18-year-old was injured during Germany’s final session in Chicago earlier this evening. An MRI confirmed the damage after the Bayern Munich youngster limped off with 20 minutes remaining.

A final decision on further treatment is being taken by Julian Nagelsmann and his staff.

The German camp are also discussing whether the forward should return to Munich.

The setback ends Karl’s hopes of playing at his first World Cup in the USA, Canada and Mexico before the tournament has even started.
