Lens came from behind to beat Rennes 3-1 on Saturday afternoon, with Odsonne Édouard equalising and driving the comeback. Alidu Seidu endured a torrid time, involved in all three goals conceded.

L'Équipe highlights Édouard’s influence and Seidu’s difficulties. The forward stretched Jacquet with his runs, teed up chances on five and six minutes, missed on 16 and 30, then levelled on 41 with a diagonal finish from an Aguilar pass after outmuscling Seidu. It was his eighth Ligue 1 goal.

Malian midfielder Mamadou Sangaré controlled the early exchanges, repeatedly winning the ball, and was booked at 45+2. Ismaëlo Ganiou impressed with fierce tackling, winning eight of nine duels, and delivered the penultimate ball before Thauvin’s assist for the second goal on 54.

Aguilar then collected a second yellow on 56, and at the hour Lens introduced Allan Saint-Maximin. Édouard was replaced by Saud Abdulhamid on 61. Saint-Maximin almost created for Thauvin on 72, then made it 3-1 on 78 with a crisp long-range strike after dribbling past Seidu.

Seidu was beaten by Édouard on the equaliser, late to Thauvin for the second, then undone again by Saint-Maximin. Mousa Al-Tamari’s stray pass towards Embolo preceded the second goal, he did draw Aguilar’s second caution on 56, and later blazed over on 74 after a perfect Blas pass. Debutant keeper Mathys Silistre, 20, was not decisive on Édouard’s strike and could not keep out Saint-Maximin’s, which sealed the result.
