RC Lens have struck an agreement in principle with Club Brugge for the loan, including a mandatory option, of left-back Faitout Maouassa (25), according to a report from L’Equipe.
Maouassa was loaned out to Montpellier last season and flourished with Michel Der Zakarian’s side, registering five goals and as many assists in 34 games played with the Hérault side. Montpellier even considered signing Maouassa on a permanent move.
The French left-back eventually returned to Club Brugge, but he is reportedly not part of the Belgian team’s plans for the season. L’Equipe understands that RC Lens have wrapped up a deal with Club Brugge for Maouassa. The outlet adds that the Artois side manager Franck Haise wants to cover every post within the squad, which may mean that Massadio Haidara will now fill in as a centre-back. Lens, who are still winless this season, will play AS Monaco away on Saturday.
